Realtime Graphic New Users shows empty gaps

I have a very buggy realtime graphic for new users. It shows gaps everywhere which leads to a really bad experience. This happens as well with games that have way more users. The below screenshot is just an example. I also know it's not a reporting issue as later on, in cohort, the numbers are correct. It just affects realtime view. I also confirmed with several other users who have the same problem.

Thanks for the feedback.
Just to clarify - the data is not wrong. The metric viewed is "New Users" per hour and during some hours no new users were detected.
The way it's shown needs to be improved. In the legacy tool some hacks were made to show 0's in some cases, but was not consistent. In the new tool we faced some challenges with our charting library to make it as we want.
We are rebuilding our charting to better control this behavior and add more options/visuals.
Our intended approach..
* When there is data (player events) detected on specific hour/day, then it should not show a gap. For example count of users playing a level could be 0.
* When there is no data at all (like for an entire hour in realtime no player sent data) then a gap is shown.
This is to indicate the difference between these 2 scenarios.
Looking at New Users then it could both 0's and gaps. For example if 10 people played and 0 were New Users then 0 would be displayed. But if 0 users played then it would be a gap.
The updated charts are in development and will be introduced soon. In that work we will also review this aspect..

Nikolaj Ahlberg-Pedersen actually the data is wrong. In those gaps there are new users. They are just not shown. When you change to cohort a day after they magically appear.

you can actually even sum them up in above screenshot example. Total new users 19. First dot is 2, second dot is 3, fourth dot is 2 and fifth dot is 2. Total = 9 :) So in those gaps there are effectively missing 10 users.

Christoph Müller: The chart granularity in realtime is hours. So New Users is reported (detected) per hour.
If a user plays for the first time at 14.20 and then again at 16.15, then player will be a "New User" detected during 14.00-15.00, but will be a returning user during 16.00-17.00 (and not count as "New User" for that hour).
Also be aware that the sum of the data in realtime is "last 24 hours" from current hour and timespan is often not aligned with other reporting (like Cohorts) that detect/report users within a UTC day always.
What you are likely looking for is cumulative reporting of the New Users during the day and not detected per hour. We will think about how to explain this better and perhaps even report both..

In the above chart you mention.. the data points are..
1+1+1+2+1+3+1+1+2+1+2+1+1+1 = 19 users as reported in the top-right.

Nikolaj Ahlberg-Pedersen I actually am looking for the sum of the last 24 hours, the confusion is then indeed that the gaps do not show 0 and I even thought that the ones at the bottom are the ones with 0 when in fact it's 1...
Very confusing. Hope the new charts will fix this. Thanks.

Christoph Müller: Yes.. I totally understand this can cause confusion.
Especially when small amounts of "new users" are trickling in over the 24 hours. We will review new charts with this in mind. Thanks.

Christoph Müller: FYI I shared this with the team.. and we might have some remedy before new charts are out to show 0's here.
We will try it out and release soon..
Thanks again for reporting.
